Let the Countdown Begin!

Hello everyone! I hope February has started out well for everyone. So far mine is great, and I am getting so excited for Valentine's Day! Well, actually the day after. I have school and work all day so the 15th will be my date day. This post is for the dateless as well as the girls with a date!

I know some people hate Valentine's Day, but I think that maybe they need to look into some new possibilities so that V-Day doesn't suck so bad. Here's some great ideas for if you don't have a date:
1: Have a dinner and a movie with your friends! Even if you don't have a guy in your life, your girls love you. Go out with them for the night!
2: Set up a Secret Santa: Valentine's Edition between your friends. Everybody draws a random name and you surprise that friend with a gift. The point is to keep the gift-giver a secret!
3: You and your friends can also spend time together doing cute nail art or making accessories (Like friendship bracelets!)
4: You're a strong independent woman, so spoil yourself! Make some sweet treats or give yourself a pedicure. Or if you have the money, go get the mani-pedi. You don't need others to have a good time.
5: Make yourself a Valentine's card. This works better if you do it before the big day, that way you can open it on that day as a pick me up. (Tell yourself how beautiful you are!

Next up: What to wear to your date and what to do with your Valentine if you don't have a date idea!

So, you have a date coming up and you're not quite sure what to wear? Here's some ideas:

If you're a lady who thinks red is where it's at, this is for you.
To keep an edgy outfit sweet, wear a semi-sheer or lace top (Like this one from H&M) with red jeans. The edginess can be channelled through your leather jacket, wedges, and chunky jewelry. A metallic gold bag will make for an awesome accessory.
If you're feeling sweet, go for a skater dress (sleeves are a good idea, it IS still winter!) with polka dot tights and some sweet pumps. (I actually own and LOVE these curved heels from Forever 21 - And they're on sale!) A sweet bow can keep your hair out of your face, and cute heart-shaped accessories are a must! An envelope clutch will hold on to all your stuff, and not take away from how cute you look.

This is for all the girls in pink!
I always like to keep my edgy just a little girly on a date, especially if it's pink. Start with a black romper and a pink leather jacket. Pink is an interesting color for something that's typically so black. Light pink is a good choice too! To make it girly, put on some lace tights for girliness. Add combat boots, a belt, and geometric accessories to finish your look.
For those keeping it sweet, a polka-dot bustier top is cute and simple. Pair it with a skirt and cardigan combo, both in different shades of pink to compliment each other. (Make sure your skirt has a high-waist so that you don't show too much skin!) Plain black tights and small wedges go well with this to accentuate your legs and keep you from totally freezing. Wear a metallic silver cross-body to accessorize as well as maybe one or two pieces of cute jewelry. Viola! Cute as a button.

Okay, so here's the other question, what to do if you DO have a Valentine, but don't want to just go to dinner (AGAIN!)
1: My boyfriend and I are going to Build-a-Bear workshop. I haven't been there in years, and there's something about making that stuffed gift that makes it so much more special.
2: Go somewhere you've never been to. Maybe that's a certain park or an art gallery. Just do a Google search and see what you can come up with.
3: Go to a new vintage or second-hand store (new as in you've never been there) and challenge each other to see who can find a better gift!
4: Have a picnic! Last year, my boyfriend made me a heart-shaped pizza from scratch. No joke. We went to the park beside his house and just enjoyed the time together.

What are you going to do for Valentine's Day? Are you excited or don't really care?

  1. Awesome post, looks like I'll be celebrating alone this year hehehe but you've given me some ideas on how to actually celebrate it, despite the single status! Also loving the red outfit inspiration you created!
